Nepal's Light
Purnima — meaning "full moon" in Nepali — was chosen as our name deliberately. A full moon illuminates everything around it, casting light into dark corners. That is exactly what we set out to do: illuminate the extraordinary talent hidden in Nepal's villages.
We saw gifted artisans — weavers, painters, carvers, potters — struggling to reach customers beyond their local market. Their work was world-class. Their audience was local. We decided to change that.
Today, every product you find here has a story — a weaver's hands, a village, a tradition stretching back centuries. When you buy from Purnima Collection, you are not just buying an object. You are participating in the preservation of a living cultural heritage.
Our Values
Authentic Craftsmanship
Every product is made by hand using techniques passed down through generations. We work exclusively with skilled artisans who have mastered their craft over decades.
Fair & Ethical
We pay fair wages — always above market rate. Our artisans are partners, not suppliers. Their livelihoods and wellbeing are inseparable from our mission.
Cultural Preservation
Nepal's craft traditions face extinction as younger generations seek urban work. We create economic incentives that make staying in a craft village viable and dignified.
Sustainable Sourcing
Natural dyes from local plants, hand-spun wool from Himalayan sheep, clay from riverbeds. We source with the land in mind, ensuring what we take can be replenished.
Meet Our Artisans
These are the people who make Purnima Collection possible. Every product carries their name, their skill, and their story.
Sita Tamang
Sita has been weaving pashmina since she was 12, learning from her mother and grandmother. Her shawls take up to 3 weeks each to complete.
Ram Lama
Ram trained for 7 years under a master thangka artist. Each of his paintings contains hundreds of thousands of individual brushstrokes.
Maya Gurung
Maya leads a collective of 40 women who harvest medicinal herbs from the Himalayan foothills using traditional seasonal methods.
Nepal: Where Art
Meets the Himalayas
Nepal sits at the crossroads of South and East Asia, absorbing centuries of influence from Hindu and Buddhist traditions. This collision of cultures produced some of the world's most distinctive art forms — thangka painting, pashmina weaving, dhaka textile work, paubha art, and woodcarving traditions that UNESCO has designated as intangible cultural heritage.
The country is home to 123 spoken languages and dozens of ethnic groups, each with its own craft tradition. The Newar community of the Kathmandu Valley, the Tamang people of the high hills, the Tharu of the Terai plains — each group contributes unique techniques and aesthetic sensibilities to Nepal's craft landscape.
Purnima Collection draws from this entire tapestry. We are not a single-village operation — we are a network that spans the country, bringing together artisans from every region into a single store where the world can find them.
